Little heartbreaks

The world hurts like a paper cut
A thousand little heartbreaks each day
Trying to see the sun in humanity
Instead, their darkness in the daylight

Humanity lives a sea of daily lies
As it plays a daily game of spot the truth
People are seen to be the superior species
But sea life has more honour than we do

There are stars among the walking beings
Trying to charm help into the less fortunate
A tsunami of hate and rich rains down
That the good in the world washes away

The bad seems so endlessly vast
That I hanker for the good in humanity
I'll keep looking for a smile each day
While I suffer daily little heartbreaks
